Vintage 1950s gold thread fabric Beggar's Expandable opening evening handbag with a wristlet small links chain. The expandable opening is gold tone as well. This style of wristlet purse debuted in the Roaring 20s era when ladies started leaving the stove in the kitchen, bobbed their hair, learned to dance, wear rouge and lip stick, and started smoking in public. The chatelaigne no longer sufficed. So the wrislet handbag became the 3rd exceptionally important accessory a lady needed to be seen in public. The design is the same as the earlier versions that used metal mesh for the bag. This one has the ever so hot gold thread fabric from the 1950s. Inside lining is an off-white taffeta type of fabric. There are no labels or markings, so the maker is unknown. Nor does this bag appear to have ever been used.Non-smoking and no pets.• Closure 1 3/4 diameter.
